Четвртак, 13. марта 2025

Malaysia is set to welcome up to 400,000 tourists this Ramadan, drawn by its vibrant cultural celebrations, religious tourism offerings, and festive experiences.

Surge in Muslim Tourism Expected This Ramadan in Malaysia

Malaysia is gearing up for a significant influx of Muslim visitors this Ramadan, with projections suggesting an arrival range of 250,000 to 400,000 tourists. The country’s vibrant Islamic cultural celebrations and religious tourism offerings are key factors driving this surge.

Malaysia’s Growing Appeal as a Ramadan Destination

Malaysia’s popularity as a Ramadan destination continues to rise, attracting an increasing number of travelers each year. This growing appeal is largely due to the country’s rich cultural offerings and vibrant religious tourism experiences during the holy month.

The trend is particularly evident among visitors from Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar. These countries represent a significant portion of the Muslim tourists choosing Malaysia to experience its unique Ramadan atmosphere and festive activities.

Peak Arrival Period During Eid Promotions

The final week of Ramadan is expected to see a substantial increase in Muslim tourists, coinciding with the full swing of Eid or Hari Raya Aidilfitri shopping promotions, a major highlight of the festive season.

Malaysia’s Ramadan Atmosphere Draws Global Visitors

As per the Islamic Tourism Centre, the unique Ramadan ambiance in Malaysia continues to position the country as a prime destination, appealing to both Muslim and non-Muslim tourists. From January to November 2024, Malaysia welcomed 4.82 million Muslim tourists, with the majority coming from Indonesia, Brunei, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Kazakhstan.

Tailored Experiences for Muslim Travelers

In response to the growing demand, tour operators are curating customized packages for Muslim tourists. These packages include special offerings such as Friday prayers, iftar meals with locals, and cultural exchanges, providing an immersive experience of Malaysia’s rich heritage. The country’s halal cuisine, with its distinct flavors, is another major attraction that sets it apart from other destinations like China.

Hotel Bookings Rise for Hari Raya

There has been a significant increase in hotel bookings for the Hari Raya period, reflecting a high demand for accommodations during this festive season.
